U.S. Capital Trivia

Are you smarter than your pen? The U.S. Capital Trivia game pits you against your pen. It asks you questions on the OLED display and you write your answer. Once you become a master of state capitals you can hack the source and come us with your own trivia game.

In order to install this penlet you must first compile, and then install the penlet using the LiveScribe Penlet SDK. At this time LiveScribe prohibits distribution of compiled penlets, per the license that ships with the Pre-Release Penlet SDK.

Game Play

To start the application navigate to "US Capital Trivia" on the pen's menu. It will begin by asking you for the capital of a state, like "What is the capital of New Jersey". You now have an unlimited amount of time to decide what the answer is. You then write your answer in your LiveScribe dot paper notebook, in this case "Trenton". The answer is case-insensitive, so "trenton", "TRENTON", and "TrEnToN" are all treated the same.

Two seconds after you stop writing the pen will let you know if you were right by displaying the result in the OLED. If you are wrong, the pen will let you know what the right answer is. A few seconds after displaying the result, the pen will display another randomly selected question.

Hacking

The U.S. Capital Trivia penlet uses code from the Using Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR), Creating a Custom Vocabulary, and Using Properties Files tutorials.

Installation

After downloading and unzipping the source distribution you will need to update the build.xml with the correct value for PENLETSDK_HOME.

To build and install on a pen using Ant:

	ant dist
	ant penlet.install

To remove from the pen using Ant:

	ant penlet.undeploy
